The Less Known Way of Cambodia 14 day start from poipet, the border between Thailand and Cambodia to Sisophon then Preah Vihear area with the Thai border. Discover the Vihear Temple (or Prasat Phra Viharn) which dates back to the beginning of the 11th century. It dominates the plain from its prominent position in the Dangrek Mountains at an altitude of more than 700m and was only returned to Cambodia by a ruling of the International Court of Justice in The Hague in 1963 (previously occupied by the Thais). Before arrival Siem Reap, visit the remoted temples of Koh Ker along the way. Arrival in Siem Reap the base town for exploring the Temples of Angkor.  Built between the 9th and 13th century, hundreads of temples lie within the area that once served as the capital for the mighty Khmer empire. 

From Reap Reap, you will have an experience speed boat on Mekong river to Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital city, which was once considered the most beautiful in the Orient and its museums are a telling reminder of the country's bloody recent history.

Any trip to Cambodia would not be complete without seeing its spectacular jungles. For that, you will be taken to Ream National Park, resplendent in its natural glory, for a guided tour followed by a boat ride to the beaches of nearby Koh Sam Pouch.

You will also get the chance to relax at Cambodia's premier beach resort, Sihanoukville, where you can swim, dive or simply lie back in the sand. We have made plenty of time to cycle around Cambodia's countryside also. Its quiet, rural roads offer stunning vistas alongside more exciting features such as the rapids of Toek Chhou, making bicycles the perfect way to see the landscape.

Day 1 : Arrival in Poipet  - Sam Rong (L,D)
Pick-up at the border of cambodia, at Poipet in the morning. Client will cross border and arrange their own visa formalities. Pick up by our Cambodian guide and drive to Sisophon. Lunch at local restaurant in Sisophon. Then head north, towards Banteay Chmar and discover this rarely visited temple which was one of the capitals of Jayavarman II. It was rebuilt by Jayavarman VII and dedicated to his son and four generals who were killed in the battle repelling a Cham Invasion in 1177. Continue to Samrong and transfer to your guest house. Dinner and overnight in Samrong.

Day 2 : Sam Rong - Anlong Veng - Preah Vihear - Tbeng Meanchey(B,L,D)Depart to Preah Vihear via Anlong Veng, the last hold of The Khmer Rouge leaders and visit Ta Moks House and Pol Pots quarter. Start to climb-up to reach the majestic Preah Vihear Temple located near the Thai border. Explore the Preah Vihear Temple (or Prasat Phra Viharn) which dates back to the beginning of the 11th century. Picnic on site. Descend Dangrek Mountain and continue to Tbeng Meanchey, city center of Preah Vihear. Dinner and overnight in Tbeng Meanchey

Day 3: Tbeng Meanchey - Koh Ker - Siem Reap(B,L,D)
Breakfast at the local restaurant in Tbeng Meanchey, then take the trip back to Siem Reap and visit the remoted temples of Koh Ker along the way to Siem Reap. These are recently reopen to the tourist. After around two hours on car, you will arrive at the group of redicovered temple of Koh Ker which was one of capital city of Angkor. The Koh Ker site is dominated by Prasat Thom, a 30 meter tall temple mountain raising high above the plain and the surrounding forest. Great views await the visitor at the end of an adventurous climb. Garuda, carved into the stone blocks, still guard the very top, although they are partially covered now. Lunch and continue the road to Siem Reap. Arrival late in the afternoon. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 4 : Angkor Wat  (B,L)
Breakfast at hotel. In the morning, visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat's five towers symbolize Meru's five peaks - the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat, the ocean beyond.  Lunch at local restaurant. Visit the South Gate, the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century), Bayon Temple, the Royal EnclosurePhimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Day 5: Banteay Sei – Ta Prohm – Preah Khan   (B,L)
Morning, transfer to Banteay Srei temple (10th century), regarded as the jewel in the crown of Classical Khmer Art. Continue to Ta Prohm, one of the area's most beautiful temples. Ta Prohm has been relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, you continue your temple visits to Preah Khan. Built by the King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however, the temple of Prea Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool (representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake), Ta Som and Banteay Samre, built in the third quarter of the 12th century. It consists of a central temple with four wings preceded by a hall and accompanied by two libraries, the southern example remarkably well preserved. Two concentric walls enclose the ensemble. Overnight in Siem Reap. 

Day 6 : Siem Reap  - Phnom Penh (B,L)
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer  to pier to for local speedboat trip at 07:00 am to Phnom Penh. Arrival around noon time. At the end of dry season speed boat operation is limited due to the low water level. In this case the journey to Phnom Penh is flight. Afternoon Visit the Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda. Located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles. The treasures found inside include a solid gold Buddha encrusted and weighing 90kilograms and a small 17th century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha. End your afternoon with the visit of the Wat Phnom Temple, Phnom Penh's namesake, from where you can enjoy views over the tree-lined avenues of the city during sunset. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 7 : Phnom Penh – Takeo – Phnom Penh (B,L)
Breakfast at the hotel. departure by road from Phnom Penh city to Takeo province (78Km from the city). Explore four caved into the walls before reaching four caves with shrines carved into the walls before reaching Phnom Da temple.  Visit Ashram Moharosei, an Indian style sandstone temple constructed in a style unlike any other temples in Cambodia. Picnic lunch provided at the side. Visit the museum of Angkor Borei where reproductions of objects found in the region are displayed. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 8: Phnom Penh – Kirirom (B,L,D)
Today we take an early breakfast before visiting the Toul Sleng Museum and the Killing Fields – a telling reminder of the tragic civil war Cambodians have recently been through. After this we transfer from Phnom Penh to Kirirom. Upon arrival in Kirirom, check into the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we will make a short trip to Cham Bok Waterfall for a three kilometre trek of the area. Overnight in Kirirom

Day 9: Kirirom - Sihanoukville.  (B,L,D)

After breakfast we transfer from Kirirom foothill to Sihanoukville, Cambodia's foremost beach resort with fantastic views over the Gulf of Thailand on-route. The afternoon is free to explore the area's beaches before dining at night at a local sea food restaurant. Overnight in Sihanoukville.

Day 10: Sihanoukville – Ream National Park (B,L,D)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to ream National Park, only 20 kilometres from Sihanoukville. A local guide will join us for a short trek through the jungle paths, pointing out the varied flora and fauna, beautiful creeks, mangroves and wildlife. We will walk to the beach where a boat awaits to take us to Koh Sam Pouch. Enjoy lunch on the quiet white sand beaches and take a swim before boarding the boat again and heading to the Koh Dam Mangroves. Here our transportation awaits to bring us back to Sihanoukville. Overnight in Sihanoukville

Day 11: Sihanoukville – Kampot (B,L,D)

We depart for Kampot today, a quiet colonial town with great views over the river and the Damrei Mountains. Upon arrival in Kampot, take a short tour before getting on the bicycles for an eight kilometre ride out of town. In the afternoon we visit the rapids of Toek Chhou where, water level permitting, it is possible to swim. A romantic dinner will be laid out in the late afternoon. Overnight in Kampot.

Day 12: Kampot – Kep. (B,L,D)

Today road 25 kilometers towards the beach resort of Kep. The ride is very quiet and leads through charming rural villages. Upon arrival in Kep, transfer to our hotel which overlooks the Gulf of Thailand. After check-in we head for Koh Tonsai (Rabbit Island) where a serene environment with perfect beaches awaits. Late afternoon we head back to our resort for dinner. Overnight in Kep

Day 13: Kep - Phnom Penh (B,L,D)

Today we transfer through the stunning countryside back to Phnom Penh, arriving just in time for lunch. After lunch you are free to explore the town further or ask to be transferred to the famous Russian Market where you will find an eclectic array of items on sale. Farewell diner in local restaurant. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 14 : Phnom Penh – Departure (B)
Morning free until time to transfer to airport for flight departure. End the Asia King Travel’s service
